Sunday Gun Porn: Bayonets on Pistols?

Sunday Gun Porn: Bayonets on Pistols?

I’m going to go ahead and agree with blogger “Good Boy” on this one and that I also have never understood bayonets for revolvers and pistols. It’s not the early 1900s anyone and there are few times you’re going to be defending your home with trench warfare. However, when you are observing your 2nd Amendment Right to Bear Arms, this definitely has some real intimidation component to it.

Sunday Gun Porn: Pistol Bayonets

pistol bayonet

Even though the gun itself has been said to be “wildly inaccurate” and a knife is probably  better on it’s own, and easier to use then a bayonet on a revolver, I still think it does look very cool indeed. Because of the coolness factor alone, this one still makes it for this week’s Sunday Gun Porn choice.

Cool or impractical? You decide!

Parris Island Opens This Date In 1891 Semper Fidelis

The Marine Corps established its first post at Port Royal, South Carolina, later known as Parris Island this day in 1891!

Frequently asked “How was boot camp”? Well, it wasn’t drinks by the poolside!

Yelled at, screamed at, made to worn green camouflage uniforms with trousers unbloused, issued birth control glasses, forced to shower with 50 guys or women depending on your sex, issued ink sticks, trousers, blouses, incredibly dull boots dire in need of a shine, learned never to volunteer for a damn thing, shuffled to the side as you progressed through the daily chow lines, forced to bend and thrust, do pullups till your knuckles bled, situps till your insides were outside, shared a rack with a complete stranger, learned to clean and polish every square inch of a squad bay, cleaned a shower with a toothbrush and learned that a head is not something attached to your neck. Agonizing hours spent sitting Indian style until you lost all feeling in all your extremities were also callings for the day.

You learned to fire an M-14, M-16, M16A2, M4, 9mm or possibly a 45. ACP. Your mother was a tall, muscle bound Staff Sergeant who was designed out of spare parts of fallen Marines and his two friendly assistants, Sergeant Kick Ass and his partner Sergeant “I am Going to Make you throw up all day long”. These were your only friends for the 3 months of basic training and honestly they weren’t your friends.

Remember This?

The M16A2 service rifle is a lightweight air-cooled, gas-operated, magazine-fed shoulder weapon. It fires a 5.56 mm ball projectile at a muzzle velocity of 2,800 feet per second. This is my rifle. Repeat after me.

Or How About This?

Barbed Wire Is 1 Year Older Today! Happy Birthday To An American Classic!

Barbed Wire Is 1 Year Older Today! Happy Birthday To An American Classic!

 Old Painful Celebrates Another Birthday!

BARBED WIRE

VSWA172_MIA-American Classic-Barbedwire

In 1867 Barbed Wire makes its debut and officially is born! June 25th it celebrates another birthday!

It has been called a lot of things from that SOB that just pricked me to Devil’s Rope it has been part of American history from its inception, seen in the Wild Wild West to the trench warfare of the First World War and has had more uses and applications than those seen in Mr Slattery’s Book on 12,000 uses of the ordinary rope and oh what a read it is. Even Amazon cannot keep copies in stock!

It has become so ingrained in American culture that barbed wire has been adorned as tattoos and seen on a canvas of a variety of shapes, colors and designs. Below are just a very small sampling of the barbed wire tats worn.

Barbed wire, also known as barb wire, less often bob wire or, in the southeastern United States, bobbed wire, is a type of steel fencing wire constructed with sharp edges or points arranged at intervals along the strand(s). It is used to construct inexpensive fences and is used atop walls surrounding secured property. It is also a major feature of the fortifications in trench warfare (as a wire obstacle).

A person or animal trying to pass through or over barbed wire will suffer discomfort and possibly injury. Barbed wire fencing requires only fence posts, wire, and fixing devices such as staples. It is simple to construct and quick to erect, even by an unskilled person.

The first patent in the United States for barbed wire was issued in 1867 to Lucien B. Smith of Kent, Ohio, who is regarded as the inventor. (source: Wikipedia)

The American Classic designs located at Vision-Strike-Wear.Com are symbolic references to the history of invention, original thought, solutions for trying problems and whether they were Kbars, which could pitch a tent, ground coffee, shave a head of hair, start a fire, sharpen punji stakes or open a can of peaches to the American bazooka capable of threading a needle with a rocket propelled high explosive anti-tank round there have been American Classics that changed how we do things one invention at a time. Each of these American classics are important icons of their day!

Not often spoken about in the headlines, newspapers, periodicals or within the ranks of the US, the USCG has a little secret up its sleeve: The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary!

Since 1939 the USCG Auxiliary has served as the backbone of the US Coast Guard and has been there to support the USCG in every way it possibly can!

 What is the USCG Auxiliary?

Source from Wiki~

The United States Coast Guard Auxiliary (USCG Aux) is the uniformed volunteer component of the United States Coast Guard (“USCG”). Congress established the USCG Aux was June 23, 1939, as the United States Coast Guard Reserve.

What does the USCG Auxiliary do?

1. An excellent article by Rande Wilson of the USCG goes into a nice discussion about the duties of the Auxiliary, their roles and missions. What does the Coast Guard Auxiliary do? This is a question I once caught myself asking when I was active duty at Sector Seattle. And for the average Coastie out there it’s a question that they too may not be able to answer. So, as today’s educative post I would like to tell you what I know of the Auxiliary, their actions, and their potential. More information found at  at http://live.cgaux.org/?p=707
