The Medical Corps has a long and honorable tradition with its roots going back to July 27th, 1775 and is very nearly as old as the United States herself. The earliest physicans of the US Army MC were recruited by the 1st Continental Congress through the Medical Department of the Army. It was later in 1908 that the branch and name “Medical Corps” was officially designated even though the doctors had been using the terms for quite some time previous to this.
