Inspired by a Chief. Collaborated by a United States Navy Chief’s wife. Designed by Vision-Strike-Wear.Com. What do you get from a team like this? A shirt design originally created for the US Navy ship USS Louisville which then later became one of the most widely known and often copied designs in Navy Chief recent history.
Now Master Chief Ruben Aguirre and his incredible and highly supportive spouse were instrumental in the development of an idea that would become the US Navy Chief Anchored design worn by more than a thousand Chiefs all over the US Navy.
The original design was created on October 13th, 2009 by lead designer Frost Call of Vision-Strike-Wear.Com for the Chiefs aboard the USS Louisville. Later it was adopted for a number of Chiefs messes with the occassional text drop or name change and then further developed into a design for Senior Chiefs as well as Master Chiefs.
Further development of the design came when a number of Chiefs contacted the design staff of Vision-Strike-Wear.Com requesting Surface Warfare, Submarine Dolphin Insigia and Air Warfare insignia also be added. Vision-Strike-Wear.Com responded quickly by providing these variations.
Now that the reception has been so welcomed in by the Goatloackers all over the US Navy other companies have waded in like sharks swallowing bait and added their interpretation to what was already a detailed and widely accepted design. It is pretty hard to compete with the original and some of the watered down versions kind of are embarassing to say the least.
The original from October of 2009 when it first was created.

The Vision-Strike-Wear.Com interpretation published on NavyChief.Com website circa 2015 a full 5 years after the original artwork by VSW was created.

For generations of Americans we have grown up with Popeye. He has travelled through the ages sometimes in a simpler fashin in accordance withthe times or with a less politically correct perspective during the war years of World War 2 but unmistakingly he has been with us just like mom’s apple pie, baseball and Chevrolet. The designs featuring Popeye on shirts, apparel and highly detailed Popeye US navy coins are testimoney to America and her connection with its icons. Popeye and the United States of America, All American!
For over 7 years Vision-Strike-Wear.Com has been designing custom military art for many United States Navy associations, commands, squadrons and activities from Navy Birthday Balls to Corpman Balls to Chief’s Messes’, FCPOA designs and shirts and much more.
On occassion a retired veteran of the US Navy contacts us with an idea for a new shirt concept or something they would like to have created just for themselves or possibly a ship’s reunion they are planning on attending. One such request came in recently for a US Navy boomer, the USS Daniel Boone.
It was both and honor and a pleasure to work with this US Navy veteran and create a military design for his shirts and hoodies that he would be proud to wear.

Inspired, contemplated, suggested, ripped, approved, critiqued and tested by United States Navy Chiefs throughout the United States Navy comes this Goatlocker Tavern Navy Chief shirt.
After delivering shirts to the Navy Chief selects at NAS Whidbey Island one perfectly rainy Pacific Northwest day we sat down and spoke with a few past and present US Navy Chiefs in their goatlocker as they exhanged salty sea stories and let me tell you they are more amazing than you can imagine, we got a chance to take out a pencil and some scratch paper made up of a bar napkin and began to take down their suggestions and ides for how to create a US Navy Chief Goatlocker design they thought would be better than a blast of saltwater to the face.
After a few minutes the Goatloacker Tavern Since 1893 shirt design concept was conceived. Born in a bar, ie Chief’s Mess and no not every Chief’s Mess is filled with lovely bottles and spirits, the old salty dog stories filled with a few olives and a Mariner’s blessing and this US Navy design was ready to set sail.
Our many thanks goes out to the Navy Chiefs we had the most amazing time with and for their invitiation to sit with them in their den of US Navy solitude as we listened to generations of US Navy Chiefs discuss the Navy, their brothers and sisters, its history, honor, courage and the committment of what it takes to ensure the longevity and desire to maintain the finest naval power in history.
We know that our men and women in uniform don’t get nearly as much credit as they deserve. There are few enough holidays and occassions like Memorial Day, Fleet Week, Armed Forces Day or Armed Forces Week that honor the troops so we need to think of them more. Not enough credit is offered to these unselfish men and women in uniform that put their lives on the line every day protecting our freedoms.
Life Liberty Shirt
Never a day goes by when you don’t hear about ISIS, Daesh in their tongue, doing everything possible to disrupt the lives of innocent people overseas. That threat has even gotten closer with the terrorist actions recently reported in Seattle and Texas.
ISIS Hunting Club DAESH Shirt
I recently traveled to San Diego and while I was waiting for my airplane had the opportunity to site and vist with a United States Navy officer and diver recently back from an undisclosed location in Africa. Out of respect to his rank, his uniform and the need to maintain operational security no detailed questions were asked or responses offered but the single most important thing I discovered is the threat that ISIS does impose on not just America but the rest of the world. He did say in passing that we know little of really what is going on there and our media of course is not covering it. I thanked him, bought him his drink and wished him well and safe return.
So in this modern day with technology advancing as fast as the human mind can comprehend, the advancedments we see and hear about daily, we are still thrown about when we hear how people are being mistreated by these savages in and terrorists who are hell bent on destroying the world as we know it. So I turn back to our military men and women and those who will not accept these terrorists from taking away our rights and casting into a pool of hate and death. It is during Armed Services week that we should remember that we have our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, aunts and uncles and for many our children that climb into their cockpits, tanks or a shallow and cold trench at night because they stand as a defense and force that is equipped to fight these ungrateful haters of life and have the power to do something about it. So I ask all who take the time to read this to remember our soldiers, Marines, sailors, airmen, and coasties not jsut Armed Services week but each time you listen to a news article, read a military blog, listen to a song that brings them to mind and remember they are out there for us and above all they volunteered to do so.
As a contributing writer to the Vision-Strike-Wear.Com military blog I welcome you to experience a company that supports our men and women uniform not jsut one week or day a year but everyday. Vision-Strike-Wear.com has worked with dozens of military organizations from Helphealourvets.Org,
IAVA.Org, Purpleheartsfoundation.net, Operationhomefront.net to Homeforthetroops.org and more! Each opportunity to provide support for our active duty and veterans is something they hold to whether it is sonating shirts to a fundraiser, offering to donate a custom designs for their organization or simply creating a store on their website where designs and and products can be purchased which in turn have a % of each sale donated to that military non- profit. It is daily for them.
Some of their most recent designs can be found below. Each of these custom military designs were created so they could be worn with military pride on your favorite shirt, hoodie or apparel selection and what may be the most important worth noting is their dedication to supporting American brands from the shirts they print on to the vinyl decals they use for military decals and stickers.
