US Navy Chief Petty Officers
April 1st 1893. The United States creates the Chief Petty Officers which from the moment to this day have become the backbone of the United States Navy! Their leadership, command, experience, determination are forged resulting in the best trained and most successful naval force ever to go to sea.
Chief Petty Officer, Senior Chief Petty Officer and Command Master Chief are forver defined as the Chiefs and their legacy will continue for the life of the US Navy!
The eighth of the nine enlisted ranks in the United States Navy the Chief Petty Officers are proven leaders with years of experience. They are hardened, trained and possess the ability to command. Chief Petty Officer, Senior Chief Petty Officer and Master Chief Petty Officers since April 1st, 1893 have been the backbone of the United States Navy.
Senior Chiefs still maintain their training and just like the other enlisted ranks int he US Navy they carry their rate and training with pride.

Master Chief of the US Navy is the highest enlisted rank one can earn. THe air is thin here when dealing with these accomplished leaders.
Senior Chief Facts
Senior Chiefs only make up about 2.5% of the total enlisted force of the United States Navy and fall within 4% of the total enlisted ranks.
6 enlisted women serve as Command Senior Chiefs (8% of CSCs) in squadrons, onboard ships, and on shore duty.
Senior Chief Date of Birth – created effective June 1, 1958, under a 1958 Amendment to the Career Compensation Act of 1949. Eligibility for promotion to E-8, the Senior Chief level, was restricted to Chiefs (Permanent Appointment) with a minimum of four years in grade and a total of ten years of service.
